Charles Rivkin, the chairman and chief executive of the Motion Picture Association, called on ByteDance to “immediately cease its infringing activity,” saying in a statement that Seedance 2.0 had engaged in the unauthorized use of copyrighted works on a “massive scale.”

The shooting comes about two months since Rhode Island was rattled by a separate attack at Brown University that killed two students, wounded nine others, and set off a dayslong manhunt.

She added that the person also went by the name Roberta Esposito, but did not provide further explanation.

At a later news conference on Monday night, Chief Goncalves said that the shooter’s birth name was Robert Dorgan, born in 1969.
